Jordon Peterson And The Fad Of Christianity

Is Christianity becoming a fad?

It seems to me that amongst young men who have grown tired of wokeism and the silly antics that consume the younger generation, Christ has become a fad — something that is a response to our relativist and morally dubious culture.

Now, seeing that we have mentioned young men, where better to look than the intellectual hero for disaffected young men — Jordan Peterson.

Now, I have a great deal of respect for Peterson. His intellect is fascinating and from what I have seen of his work, he is a very noble figure, but what does that have to do with the state of Christendom in the modern world?

In an interview with Alex O’Conner, as well as many other interviews, Peterson expresses a fascination with Christianity, but remains elusive to whether or not the claims made in the gospels are factual or not.

I think this curious gravitation towards Christian language is prevelent in all levels of society — especially amongst young men. Hell, I’ve heard people say that Joe Rogan is a Christian, but from what I have heard from him, this is demonstrably false.

I think the primary issue in this matter lies in the fact that the interest in Christ is coming from two places:

1. People view Christendom as a framework that can be utilized to combat wokeism and overcome disagreements that they have with our relativist culture, not because it is true, but because of what values and morals are produced from living a Christ-like life.
2. People see those values and morals produced from the Christian message and align themselves with that instead of Jesus Christ. The inspiration for this article was a segment of a conversation between Nick Freitas and Matt Fradd, where Matt said,

“If you’re saying that Christ is King, I’m going to agree with you, but it needs to begin with your individual repentance”.

Simply put, you are not a Christian simply because you enjoy the morals that accompany Christianity. I don’t believe this because it creates a good framework for society, I believe this because it is true.
